"A real Dad both on screen and on. In my mind Dick was one of the most realistic TV fathers (alongside the likes of Fred MacMurray and Tom Bosley). He may have been acting but when transmits itself through the camera trancends all boundaries. Loved "Eight is Enough" both then, now and forever. So thoroughly pleasing to see and hear his castmates talk abut him with unabiding love and fondness. Condolences to the family (the Van Pattens and the Bradfords!)."

"Great actor, and dad on Eight is enough. You brought back so many fond memories from my teenage years. May you rest in peace. You will be missed."
