"I was born in 1941. I remember my parents taking us to Blytheville, Ar to see President Truman ride in a parade. My Dad held me where I could see the president and told me who he was and to remember that I saw the President of the United States. I have never forgotten that event. I remember during his service the newspapers talked about Margaret and they made fun of her ability to sing. I also remember that her Dad played the piano and that he took a daily morning walk. Reporters would follow him,and ask him questions during his walk. I think he had a keen sense of being able to be sarcastic and get his point across, being blunt and to the point. I think Margaret was her Daddy's girl and she probably was very much like him in many ways. I have always enjoyed reading about her. I am thankful she did not linger long with her illness."
