To the family and friends of Ms. Monica Roberts, please accept my condolences. She gave such voice to so many trans people of color, not only in Houston but around the Country. She was a woman of presence and grace and will be truly missed. I am grateful for her dedication and hard work.

Words cannot describe her. She was and still is a light in the darkness just shining ever more brightly now! If the world could love like she did we would have peace. Her Legacy will be continued. Trans right are human rights!!!!

I was so shocked to learn Monica had passed away. The Courier-Journal mentioned her on their website. I live in Louisville and Monica worked at Macy’s; she was always kind and very helpful. I last saw her when candidate Obama was in town and she was here reporting for a magazine. It was so good to see her!
She’s left the world in much better shape than she found it.
Rest In Peace, Monica. Well done!
