December 1, 1919 - January 31, 2020
Atlanta, Georgia
Just became aware of her passing while doing a google search on her as she crosses my mind from time to time. I didn't know her personally but that did not stop her from helping my son travel to Paris and England when he was 12 years old - he's 27 now. Her kind gesture and generosity opened doors of opportunities he may have not otherwise experienced.
To her family, I'm sure you already know what an awesome woman she was. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We can't know for a certainly where our loved ones go when they leave us but we hope it's to a better place. May this thought bring you some comfort. My son and I are forever grateful for the part she played in facilitating his travels abroad and his exposure to other cultures. May she rest in peace.
Respectfully
Yaminah & Khalid

I came to know of Mrs Cox Chambers through my work. I did not know her personally, though I became very familiar with her history, her family and her philanthropy. What an example of a life well lived. A shining example of helping those that needed it.

I grew up on Clarendon Plantation, daughter of the chef Daniel Alvarado. Daddy always spoke highly of the family he worked for so many years. He recently told me of the passing of Mrs. Chambers and I felt a little of my childhood slip away. My condolences to the family.

Anne Cox Chambers created her beautiful garden in Provence
and generously shared it with other garden enthusiasts making us feel so welcome. We appreciated this kind gesture enormously.
We felt her heart was at home in her garden and as her head gardener, Serge, pointed out she was often found helping the gardeners surrounded by her team of dogs. My condolences to the family... and thank you.

As a recently hired employee at Cox Automotive in Fresno, CA, I had heard about and just recently started reading about The Cox sisters and their amazing contributions to many organizations, companies, the USA, and other countries.
I am honored to be a part of such an amazing legacy! Being nearly 60, the Cox sisters quickly became my idles. Heroes, actually. My condolences to all the Cox family, worldwide. What an inspiring woman who lived life to its fullest, and gave of herself selflessly. We could a learn something from her!

Deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs C. A great Mom, leader and staunch Democrat. Never made it to France sadly but saved une bouteille de Vin Fontanille Vintage 1995. Your lavender honey was unmatched. She will always be remembered by those of us who knew or met her-- to see what goodwill lived in her, empowerment of the arts, tireless in giving. Thank you for being a role model for women.

Mrs Chambers was so kind to me when I moved to Atlanta in 1991 - we met briefly in Brussels when she was ambassdaor and I was a student in Louvain -- and we met again here through Father Austin Ford at one of his wonderful dinner parties at Emmaus House. I have many happy memories of her hospitality, particularly when I was there with her dear friend Vee Adair.
When Austin Ford was awarded by the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia Anne went with me. She was devoted to her beloved friends.
Anne Cox Chambers had a full life devoted to her family, friends, and the communities and causes she served. One must not overlook her brillance and acumen in the business community, serving not only Cox Enterprises but also the other corporations on whose boards she served. Above all, she served her country as ambassador and a staunch advocate of liberal Democratic ideals and those who promote the common good.
When I saw Mike Luckovich's cartoon of Mrs Chambers greeted by all the dogs she loved, I was reminded of the post on the staircase in her house with all their leashes. She remembered every one of them with devotion.
May all of us who remember Anne Cox Chambers give thanks for all whose lives she touched.

It's hard to think of Atlanta without Miss Anne. Her soft spoken intelligence and devotion to honorable principles were a comfort and an inspiration. I enjoyed every moment spent with her, whether related to dogs or politics. Rest in Peace, fine lady.

Phil and I were blessed to have met Mrs. Chambers by sharing in the care and grooming of her dogs. She was always most gracious and invited us to visit her out-of-state and European homes.
Her love for her dogs was fascinating and will never be forgotten. Thank you, Mrs. Chambers. RIP

My thoughts are with the family, and especially Jim. My memories are wonderful of her graciousness to us as children. Her perfect and gentle instructions over a post swim lunch one day about how to properly eat the artichoke before me is as clear as if it was yesterday. My respect for her is immense.....

To Mrs. C's family, please accept my heartfelt sympathy to someone I had the joy to know what a treasure she is and remains to all of you. A fearless, brilliant woman who must have been an amazing Ambassador (I didn't know here then) for our Country under the leadership of Beloved President Carter. She lavished me with gifts while working for her son Jim, who she adored. One of which I will never forget, my first ever taste of Lavendar honey from her own garden?! Made from bees enjoying lavender blossoms!! Have never found it since in any Country. And a Fontanille Wine Vintage 1995 that has never been opened since. When visiting her in her NYC Apartment, I was greeted by an entourage of dogs first, then came Mrs. C. introducing each to me. Well that set the bar. That is how I will remember her, a family woman, outstanding Mother, philanthropist, wife and leader, a role model for all women. Exquisite human being. Thank you for bringing so much to our world. I apologise for never visiting you at Fontanille which I know would have been a joyous occasion, for you celebrated all of life.

The Latin American Association mourns, together with many Georgians, the passing of Anne Cox Chambers. She did so much to make Atlanta a better place, and we were, through Cox Enterprises, beneficiaries of her largesse. Cox Enterprises has been a strong supporter of our organization and is one of our top corporate sponsor, and its executives have been part of our board for many years. In April, we are honoring Cox Enterprises at our annual Compañeros Awards Luncheon. In addition, Cox Enterprises, through its past ownership of MundoHispánico, has long been a friend of the Latino community. We are saddened to hear the news of Mrs. Chambers' passing, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

While I did not know Mrs Cox-Chambers I have had the honor of seeing her once visit the Cox building. It is amazing because I thought to myself as she walked past me with Mr. Kennedy, wow she is so regal and graceful just as those stated in the reflections and tributes.
You could tell that she was a woman of class and grace and her influence is all throughout the Cox Campus.
My condolences to the Cox Family during this time. May you find comfort in knowing that Mrs. Cox Chambers legacy will live on throughout the city of Atlanta and all of the Cox employees. Being an employee of Cox you feel like you are an extension of the family and it is an honor to be able to do a little part in continuing the Legacy.

The global SCAD community expresses condolence to the Cox family, as well as gratitude for the lasting contributions of Anne Cox Chambers to SCAD Lacoste. Several properties that are part of SCAD Lacoste formerly housed the Lacoste School of the Arts, which Anne devotedly led as Chair of the Board. She generously supported the school for many years, and her longtime leadership is commemorated on the campus, which is located near her beloved home in Provence.
