My condolence to the Caplan family for your loss. Coming from the Islands I was exposed to many fruits and vegetables and I appreciate them all, as did Frieda. I had the pleasure of interviewing Frieda about fresh produce numerous times, but the interview I did with her for Los Angeles magazine has always stuck with me - I asked her if she were stranded on the proverbial desert island with only one food, what would it be? "Blueberries" she answered without hesitation -" I eat them everyday!" RIP Frieda - you were truly one in a million!

For decades, our family has enjoyed the formally novel products that Ms. Caplan introduced to our food supply. As a result of Fieda's vision and efforts, we (and many others) have lived much healthier and happier lives.
