My sincere condolences to the Iacocca family for the loss of Lee. My only regret is that I never met him.
I have read and reread all three of his books. At this time in our country I find that his statement in "Iacocca An Autobiography" "Maybe the bane of rich kids who inherit their money is they go through life tipping through the tulips, wondering what they would have become without Daddy. Poor people complain that nobody gave them a break, but the rich guy never knows if he's accomplished anything on his own. Nobody ever tells him the truth. They only tell him what he wants to hear." I read and quote that message regularly. I am 78 and he, and John McCain are the two people I would call American Icons.

I am a 20 year Chrysler retiree now and if it werent for Lee Iacocca I may not of even ever made it so Im very grateful to him. I know there was a lot of people that were upset with them but I have to look at the positive we went from a fortune 500 company to a Fortune 100 company. It was a time of turmoil where they were trying to take us out of the corporation and make us a lower class citizens but he helped to raise us up and for that Im grateful. Thank you Lee Iacocca

I too contributed to the Miss Liberty to honor my parents who were iimmigrants just as
Mr. Iacocca 's parents. Smart man. Admired highly, during a time when people were judged by ethnic and religious background.
He and I shared the same. Still being judged.
RIP Mr Iococca. Our Lord is waiting for you with open arms.
Condolences to the family and all friends.

Lee Kelechava and family especially your Mom: Know Lee Iaccoca inspired. He and your entire family personified the American Dream. From immigrant beginnings to your beautiful home in Allentown's Midway Manor to Lehigh University to the pinnacle of America's invented industry of automobiles, Lee Iacocca represented the ideals to which we all aspired. You were blessed by his presence; our nation richer and better by his leadership; may your memories of him endure. And Mr. Iacocca may you rest in blessed peace.

I was twelve when I met Mr. Iacocca, he lived in Texas next door to the Baxter's or was visiting someone. My mom worked for the Baxter's and I was her tag along that day. I had never heard of him before, but my mom was so proud to introduce me to him because they were friends. She went on to explain who he was and what he had done for Americans. My mom drove Ford/Chrysler/Lincoln; I guess because of his influence. Anyway, my encounter with Mr. Iacocca was pretty cool, he was a gentleman and a cool friend at the same time. I was so impressed him that I have never forgot his hug, so warm and fatherly. Thanks, mom! Rest in peace Mr. Iacocca, I will never forget you! And my God bless his family with peace and precious remembrance of only the best times.

Lee Iacocca was an icon in the business world and his success unrivaled. But one important project was his successful endeavor of restoring Miss Liberty. His fundraising reached all across the nation which responded dramatically; my father was a donor, and I saw his name on the donor list when I visited NY in January 1991. Millions who visit NY from all over the world see this beloved symbol of America, thanks to the love and gratitude of Mr. Iacocca. Eternal rest to you, Sir. You will be missed.
