Bruce in Star Trek was super- good-looking and the first guy I ever had a crush on. Intensely good actor, fun to watch and so darn sexy. YUM YUM. Rest in Peace.

I recently heard Bruce's name on the Sirius Radio show Tell Me Everything. I thought gosh could it be the same fellow ?? So sorry to hear of his passing. We were both at the Actors Institute in NYC during the early 1980's and did some stage work together. Bruce was extremely capable, generous and gregarious. I Will keep his memory in my heart.
Hail and fare thee well.

Richard

You were one of my professions at USC. I had you as a teacher in the fall of 1988. I learned o much from you. I only wish I could tell you how much I have changed since USC....from a shy kid to who I am now. You were one of the great memories I have from USC and I will never forget you. Many thanks.

Bruce was a good actor, always be remembered for his character Lieutenant Kevin Riley in Star Trek. My sincere condolences for your loss. I know that in moments like these, there is no word to express our sympathy, but be assured that our Heavenly Father is aware of your circumstances and He can grant you the strength and the comfort for you to endure - for He promises to pay attention to the prayers of those who needs support and He will never despise them. Fellow actor and friend -- Bruce will always, always be remembered for his talent and gracious personality. I will remember Bruce as Antonio Salieri in Amadeus for the rest of my life. We were colleagues and became friends during the rehearsals and the run of Amadeus at the Paramount in February 2000.

I'm sure I am not the only one who didn't know that we had a member of the original cast of Star Trek living in our neck of the woods. Star Trek Enterprise Lieutenant Kevin Thomas Riley, also know by his real name, Richard Bruce Hyde was a professor at St. Cloud State??? I can't get over the shock. Sorry to hear of his passing. I was too young to appreciate Star Trek when it originally aired, but I've seen every episode in the following two decades in reruns. I'm sure I've seen the two episodes that featured Professor Hyde as Lt. Kevin T. Riley at least 5 times! He nailed his part. Stole the scene! Anybody that knows Star Trek will never forget him singing "I'll take you home again Kathleen". Richard Bruce Hyde was more widely known than maybe he realized! My condolences to the family.

I served with him on the St Cloud Human Rights Commission and was inspired by his insight into the issues and people we served. Of course his humor was so bright! He lived and lived fully. What more can be said? My deepest sympathies to his loved ones and my deepest respect of his memory.
